Buying roof racks online can be a huge mistake

Let my lifetime of experience be arrogant and tell you that you will probably get it wrong to some degree

Please don't buy online before talking with a seasoned professional. and that includes our online store as well. We have been talking face to face with customers about Roof Racks for the last 20 years and selling online with our store since only 2023. We were late to the online game and I honestly wish it never became a thing for roof racks. In 2024, I gave it a shot and spent a lot of money doing what the others are doing, only to realize that I am selling the less-than-perfect combination of product to my customer and sometimes just totally the wrong thing,  as they are just a name and address on a screen.  Pick, Pack and Send.  That's not how I do business.   Face to Face is what's needed for roof rack sales.   Quality Roof Racks are expensive as they require a lot of testing to comply with all of the Australian standards.  The bricks and mortar business model is what works for us older folks.   We don't pay any money to find customers these days as we don't believe in that business model.  We are a small family business, and we have served our customers in the best way by talking to them as well as when possible, showing them in person what we recommend they purchase.

So, please before you purchase anything online. and sometimes make that costly mistake. Call a specialist store. A specialist store will usually have all of the brands to offer you and not just 1 or 2. They will be more likely to steer you towards what is best for your situation rather than just selling the brand that they stock.

For example, every week, we get customers asking for a quote for a platform, but after just a few questions, we can deduce that they only need bars. An awning and or solar panels can easily be fitted with just bars, saving sometimes over a thousand dollars. That could pay for the awning.

Another thing that a specialist store knows is what will look the nicest on your car, and do you want a flush-ended bar or an extended bar. The difference in brands between just one model car can fluctuate a lot between attractive and down right ugly. 

So, before you use your own judgment of what is best for you. Call us or another Roof Rack specialist store. Not just an Auto Shop that is expected to know everything from wheel bearings to roof racks. I worked in an Auto parts shop for 7 years when I was a young fella, and you can't know everything about everything. Einstein once said, It is far better to know a lot of a little than it is to know a little of a lot. That's been my philosophy for the last 40 years.

I'm not telling you how to shop, but maybe I'm just asking you not to be the type of online shopper that I am. I'm time poor like many people are. I shop online a lot. Sometimes I get it wrong. Usually, with tools, I comfort myself by telling myself that you can never have too many tools. Whilst that is true, the same philosophy doesn't apply to a roof rack.
